Going from idea to physical object in a few hours is one of the most satisfying experiences in making. This guide covers the full workflow — FreeCAD to Cura to our 3D printing service.

Step 1 — Design Your Part

Use FreeCAD (free) or Fusion 360 (free for hobbyists). Model your part and export as .STL. Key FDM rules: minimum wall 1.2 mm, avoid overhangs beyond 45° without supports, add 0.2 mm clearance between mating parts.

Step 2 — Choose Material

PLA — easiest to print, ideal for enclosures indoors below 50°C. PETG — moisture and chemical resistant, good for outdoor use. ABS — high-temperature tolerance but warps easily, needs an enclosure.

Step 3 — Slice in Cura

Open your STL in Ultimaker Cura. Recommended PLA settings: layer height 0.2 mm, infill 15% (display) or 40% (structural), print speed 50 mm/s, supports touching build plate only.

Step 4 — Use Our Service

No printer? Upload your STL on TT Electro's 3D Printing page, choose material, quantity, and colour. Quote within 4 hours. Lead time 2–3 business days.
